Game 02:13
If i could teach myself I’d play to nothing else Than to stomp away Out in the pouring rain Slowly i Go down, i feel high Golden skies All our lives Get down with yourself Just be no one else You’re so hard to tame Go out and beat the game Slowly i Go down, i feel high Golden skies All our lives

Golden Halo 03:22
Go in peace Gone are the days of sorrow when You were alone Go and see All of the things you done for me Dont you know I wanna touch your halo Your feathers dance so Gracefully You are the reason why god Made heaven and the stars In a day You dont touch the ground Wont you stay I am so far down Get you wanting to cruise with me Makes me wanna pull my teeth Wake up wanting to Get up and drive Cause we’re real Pick you up in a rainy street Situation is fine with me Jumping into a car with you That we steal never lookin back I wanna touch your halo Your feathers dance so Gracefully You are the reason why god Made heaven and the stars In a day You dont touch the ground Wont you stay I am so far down

about

All songs were recorded at home. The majority of the rhythm/lead guitar tracks were plugged directly into the recording console. I picked up this technique from Brad Laner of Medicine. No amps were involved, just plugging in direct gives it a really spicy distortion.

Game:
The drums on this track were played on a yamaha keyboard. It sounds really strange when you combine a “false” and clean sounding kit with sour-distorted guitars, but it seems to work. The vocals were an attempt to sound like Evan Dando of The Lemonheads, especially on “Drug Buddy”. The lyrics are about being yourself and doing whatever you want. By doing so, you “go out and beat the game”. A social game, so to speak.

Golden Halo:
Very inspired by Chris Bell’s “I Am The Cosmos” for this one. Also, during the middle break of Golden Halo, it reminds me of Alex Chilton’s “September Gurls” when he goes, “when i get i get to bed late at night, that’s the time she makes things right...”, that part rules. The lead guitars draw inspiration from Phil Cordell’s “Stone Cross”. The background vocals were an attempt to have that Leslie speaker sound, like on “Blue Jay Way”, but all i had was a chorus effect so had to make due with what i got. I know this song sounds rather religious, but there is no religious background to the meaning of it. It's more of a secular hymn.

Holy Chord:
I called it that because it’s the only chord progression I’ve been playing lately. This song is kind of a cross between Wipers’ “Youth of America”, and Teenage Fanclub’s “God Knows It’s True”.

Razor Apple:
An attempt at a noise pop track. The distorted bass is inspired by Teenage Fanclub’s “Is This Music”. It’s also got a bit of Screamadelica with that piano jingle. The song structure draws influence from Medicine’s “The Pink”, with that major scale ascending upward. The drums were looped on a TR 909. The song is about nasty people with little respect. The name refers to sadists during Halloween, when they stuff razors into apples and give them to children.
